Thailand has established the target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065. To fulfil these targets, the Thai government has updated the National Energy Plan 2022, which will promote the use of renewable energy to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels, especially natural gas, a major source of energy in Thailand over the past decades. Moreover, the Thai government also supports renewable energy projects through Feed-in-Tariff scheme, and investment incentives offered by the Board of Investment (BOI). The renewable energy companies in Thailand are actively developing projects both locally and overseas.
