COMPUTEX TAIPEI has become the largest computer exhibition in Asia and the second largest in the world.Stephen Su, General Director of IEK, was invited to deliver a speech on “Future ICT Industry Trends: Experiencing the Service-based Applications Ecosystems” at the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2012 Pre-Show Press Conference on March 22.

Amid the rise of technology applications like the Internet, smart mobile devices and cloud computing, many of the world’s industrial landscapes have begun to transform from traditional, streamlined industrial value chains to form comprehensive and intertwined “Service-based Applications Ecosystems.” In his speech, Stephen first talks about how the consumer consumption patterns have been shifting from "Service" to "Experience" by users, with one main driving factor being the new consumption patterns of generations XYG after Baby Boomers. Then he describes some emerging trends for Service-based Applications Ecosystems which will transform the future ICT industry. Some illustrations of ecosystems include home entertainment, mobile payment, vertical market applications like medical care and smart meter, cloud services. Future growth forecast (2011-2015) are estimated for smartphone, tablet, ultrabook, e-book and cloud services. Finally he concludes with how to go back to basics for simplicity in winning the future competition. The importance of understanding and creating consumer needs for experience is illustrated by Steve Jobs' quotes in 1976“If we can rap about their needs, feelings and motivations, we can respond appropriately by giving them what they want.”

IEK of ITRI believes that, based on its long-term trends observation, the future ICT development can be anticipated centering on the living experience that is “people-centric.” Stephen also firmly believes that in the future the industrial development in Taiwan should spur industrial upgrade and transformation via continuous innovation and promote a number of emerging “service-based applications ecosystems” to creating a number of “Me-first” and “Me-only” Service-based Applications Ecosystems which will be one breakthrough approach to upgrade Taiwan’s industrial competitiveness.

台北國際電腦展已成為亞洲最大，全球第二大的B2B專業電腦展。工研院IEK蘇孟宗主任受邀於其2012台北國際電腦展展前記者會發表「電子產業未來趨勢：以服務型應用生態體系為主的使用體驗」演說。

隨著網際網路、智慧行動裝置和雲端運算等相關技術的崛起，全球許多產業的脈絡陸續由以往只是上下游線形的產業供應鏈，逐漸延伸成為一個多向交織的「服務型應用生態體系」。蘇主任在他的演說中首先談論主要由於嬰兒潮後的XYG世代所帶來的新消費型態，使得消費者消費模式如何由使用者「服務」導向轉變為「經驗」導向。

接著他闡述一些將改變未來電子產業的服務型應用生態體系新興趨勢。例如一些家庭娛樂、行動付款、像醫療照護的垂直市場應用、智慧電表，以及雲端服務。並且預估了Smart Phone、Tablet、Ultrabook、e-Book、Smart TV和雲端應用服務2011年至2015年的未來成長預測。最後，他總結了如何反璞歸真，在未來的競爭中勝出。了解並創造消費者經驗需求的重要性就像Steve Jobs於1976年的語錄：「如果我們能洞悉消費者的需求、感覺和動機，就可以生產出他們想要的東西」。

IEK深信未來ICT的發展將以走向「以人為本」的生活體驗為發展主軸。蘇主任也深信，未來台灣產業發展應該要以創新來驅動產業的升級與轉型，發展數個重點「服務型應用生態體系」，自創出幾個引領全球（Me First），且唯一（Me Only）的服務型應用生態體系，才是發揮台灣的創新動能，提升產業競爭力的契機。
