        Stephen Su, General Director of the Industrial Economics & Knowledge Center (IEK), was invited to give a speech to the student members from UTNTUBC (University of Tokyo and National Taiwan University Bridge Conference) on Aug. 26, 2011 at the National Taiwan University in Taipei. UTNTUBC hosts annual conference events organized by International Seers Organization (ISO) of National Taiwan University and International Relations Institution of Students (IRIS) of University of Tokyo. The primary objective is for students from both universities to exchange points of views and learn from one another on selected conference topics each year. For the 2011 conference, the conference topics are to understand the future challenges and opportunities for high-tech industries in Asia.

        In his presentation, Stephen’s speech is titled “Future Challenges and Opportunities for Taiwan Industries” which covered the following key points:

        • Taiwan Industry Vision 2020
        • Disruptive Innovation vs. Sustaining Innovation
        • Transformation for ICT industry
        • Regional Manufacturing Headquarters
        • Elderly Behavior for Healthcare

        日本東京大學與台灣大學的UTNTU交流會議(University of Tokyo and National Taiwan University Bridge Conference)乃由國立台灣大學ISO社及日本東京大學學生國際交流機構(UT-IRIS)所共同籌辦,每年都會舉行研討活動並設定研討議題主軸,主要目的就是要讓兩校學生能夠透過此活動彼此交換觀點進而相互學習。

        本年度的UTNTU交流會議於8月26日在台北台灣大學舉行,工研院IEK蘇孟宗主任受邀對參與UTNTU交流會議的同學們發表演說。這次2011年研討會的主題為「了解未來亞洲高科技產業的挑戰與機會」,蘇主任演講的題目為「未來台灣高科技產業的挑戰與機會」發表了以下幾個重點:
