Stephen Su, General Director of IEK, was invited to deliver a speech on “Investment Opportunities with ICT-Enabled Industries in Taiwan” at the 2012 Taiwan Investment Environment and Business Opportunities Seminar (August 24, 2012), hosted by Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI) with sponsorship by Department of Investment Services (DOIS) from Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). In his speech, Stephen highlighted some trends of ICT industries and Taiwan’s advantages in ICT-enabling fields. In particular, he used some examples to illustrate how the worldwide industrial landscapes have begun to transform from traditional, streamlined industrial value chains to form comprehensive and intertwined “Service-based Applications Ecosystems.” Several ICT-related supply chains with Taiwan companies as key players are listed including cloud services, smart phones, tablet PCs, and touch panels. In addition, healthcare and machinery industries are used to explain how “servitization” can be incorporated into traditional industries while adding profit margin and customer stickiness to transform the traditional business models.

工研院IEK蘇孟宗主任受邀參加2012年8月24日由經濟部投資事業處主辦、財團法人商業發展研究院執行之《2012台灣投資環境及商機研討會》，並發表「台灣資通訊產業投資機會剖析」演說。

蘇主任於演說中首先點出一些資通訊產業的趨勢以及台灣在資通訊領域的利基。他特別使用了一些例子描繪世界產業的風貌是如何開始由傳統、線性的產業價值鏈轉換為全方位、緊密交織的服務型應用生態體系，包含以台灣公司為要角的幾個資通訊相關供應鏈：雲端服務、智慧型手機、平板電腦與觸控面板。除此之外，健康照護和機械產業也用來說明如何可納入「製造服務化」，同時增加利潤率與客戶黏著度，改變傳統商務模式。
