As the innovation and evolution of global cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence technologies progress, the appearance of humanity's digital life is changing. Technology evolution has triggered the emergence of a variety of " business models for disruptive innovation " backed by innovative technologies. The innovative applications of technology integration are also changing the guidelines of conventional business models. Commodities are being transformed from the-rarer-the-pricier paradigm to being "unique" while "democratic" in price, or even going as far as becoming consumer-demand oriented. Gartner, a U.S. market survey company, predicts that, by 2021, 80% of the leading ICT manufacturers will use technology spending to create disruptive innovations in the search for new value chains for businesses or industries.

Gartner estimates that internet of Things as a Service (IoTaaS) will create a 4 trillion U.S. dollar output in 2020, and that there will be one million IoT devices being purchased every hour of the day by 2021. Businesses are introducing IoT mainly to improve operations, reduce costs and improve the customer experience. The top IoT applications globally include smart home, autonamous cars, and service robots; out of which service robots, in particular, are regarded as the new battlefield for IoTaaS.

The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) estimates that by 2018, the output value of service robots will be about 19.6 billion U.S. dollars globally, where the segment of market share for home service robots will be as high as 74%. Home service robots will be playing the role of a hub to connect various home appliances, providing home appliance automation, daily life advice, childcare, security, elderly care, conversation and companionship and other home life services. Their services can also be applied to the commercial field, allowing robots to work in an office environment.

Because the industry chain is still in its infancy, every manufacturer is exploring user habits in order to discover and create the new blue ocean strategies. According to the status of current market development, A.I. voice assistant and image recognition are the standard equipment for service robots. It is expected that the mobile visual recognition function, which enables the rapid movement for robots, will be a key feature in robotics development. Industries in Taiwan may step in from the advantageous position of already having smart hardware experience.

The PwC survey on the Sharing Economy shows that the largest potential market applications of Collaborative Consumption, in sequential order, are:Peer-to-Peer lending and crowdfunding, online staffing, P2P Accommodation, car sharing, music and videio streaming. It is estimated that by 2025, the Sharing Economy will grow to 335 billion U.S. dollars. Taiwan Industries may encourage entrepreneurs to offer smart city solutions via a sharing platform.

As innovative business models emerge, a new ecological chain and new business opportunities for new industries are being created. Looking to the future, Taiwan’s industries may focus on high tech innovation incubation, thereby energizing innovative technologies, applications and business opportunities.Taiwan Industry should concentrate more on the innovations for the high technologies, not just on the ideas about business model or product design. It is recommended that they focus on the direction of commercialization of advanced technology, application or the integration of innovative technologies, and technology platform to develop Taiwan’s innovative services or internal industry innovation.

By using innovative technology as the support, and a platform ecosystem as the basis, industries can accurately grasp users' digital life patterns and develop the emerging application-service platform ecosystem while creating reciprocal mechanisms with the platform members. In addition, the industries can make use of open architecture, or existing hardware and software resources to create innovative value chains. Industry boundaries will become increasingly blurred, and the true value of innovative business models and technology applications will encompass the consideration of people, business and things all at once, and use open software/hardware resources to integrate upstream and downstream members to expand cross-industry cooperation or derive new application services.
